Life After graduation I joined the Army to see the world. All I saw was the mud in Southeast Asia. It wasn't very pretty. We trained as a unit in Ft Lewis for 6 months and then went over to Viet Nam. If I had known then what I knew 12 months later, I never would have done it. But I'll say this: the army is just like the rest of the world. There are some nice people in it. The only problem I had was some of the best ones got killed. I have 21 really close friends from 1968 whose names are on the wall in Washington D.C. My son and I are going on a road trip this year. It will be the first time that I have been to the Memorial. We are then going on up to Cape Cod for a few days. I plan on seeing about 6 guys from my Infantry Company on the trip. I just hope my 14 yo doesn't get to bored with all the old people. I do plan on taking him to some amusement parks along the way. He loves roller coasters.
